Take one look, inside and out, at the all-new, redesigned 2016 Mazda CX-9 and you’ll inevitably come to the conclusion that Mazda engineers and designers made a great three-row crossover even better.
As you would expect, the CX-9 is still available with that exceptional Mazda all-wheel drive system. But what’s different this time around is that the CX-9 is supported by a lighter chassis. Without the added weight of around 200 pounds, the CX-9 proves to be even more nimble and easier to control as before.
For the redesign, engineers decided on a different powertrain. The CX-9 now features a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder for the base engine. The result is a dramatic improvement in efficiency, coming in at around 20%. The improved efficiency is sure to be a hit with parents.
In the technology department, the all-new CX-9 remains as viable as ever. A high-resolution 7-inch display screen comes standard and the Mazda Connect software makes it super convenient to integrate your smartphone. From there, hands-free calling and audio control are easy.
The 2016 Mazda CX-9 comes standard with front-wheel drive, but offers available all-wheel drive in four trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature (AWD only).
